The stick is just not as good; it costs more, doesn't last as long (the package, not per application), and it's more subject to melting in hot weather. Still, I've tried probably two dozen similar products and Natural Ice is the only one that really works for me-- particularly in Minnesota winters, when it often hits -20F and is really windy.
I probably have ten sticks of Natural Ice around the house/car/work and always have one in my pocket. The only way to improve it (other than bringing back the old tube version) would be to sell it in multi-packs like Chapstick and Blistex do.
