I like Burt's Bees original peppermint lip balm; I think it protects well and I like the admittedly strong peppermint essence. Despite my fondness for that product, I have met people that think Burt's Bees peppermint balm stings when it is applied and also believe it is too aggressive in its flavoring. This Mango lip balm does not have a strong presence; this balm has a subtle mango smell and equally subtle flavoring. It applies smoothly and isn't heavy. However, I don't think it is as good as the original Burt's in terms of longevity. This balm seems to have a lighter consistency and the application dissipates in cold weather rather quickly. I live in the Midwest where it is often cold and dry and while this lip balm has done a good job keeping my lips smooth and moisturized, I have to apply it constantly. I would recommend it to those that cannot tolerate the original Burt's balm.
